Most anticipated reads for 2022
Hello Everyone, Happy Saturday!
Its a new year, which means more books I’m excited for! This list isn’t exhaustive and I will be doing another anticipated reads later in the year when more book releases are finalized. I will include a link to Goodreads for each book, if you want to find out more! These are ordered by release date.
Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire
Release Date: January 4
I already read and loved this one. This is book 7 from the Wayward Children series but you don’t have to read them in order. I started at the beginning but I know there are other places you can start. My review for this will hopefully be up soon!
House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: February 15
This is the second book to the Crescent City Trilogy(?) and I haven’t read the first book yet, but I plan too. I love Sarah J. Maas and her books are always very addicting so I’m excited to get to it!
Gallant by V.E. Schwab
Release Date: March 1
This is Victoria Schwab’s newest release and her first middle grade release with her initials rather then her full name (which I’m still not used to). I have read most of her work and I loved her Shades of Magic trilogy and her Cassidy Blake series. This one seems like it will have some horror elements without being too scary and I am here for it!
Nine Lives by Peter Swanson
Release Date: March 15
I did not like the first Peter Swanson book I read last year, which was Every Vow You Break. I want to give the author another chance and see if this will be something I like. I’ll definitely be borrowing it from the library instead of pre-ordering it and I’m curious to see if I will enjoy it.
Memory’s Legion By S.A Corey
Release Date: March 22
This book is a bind up of all the novellas that comes with the Expanse series. I really enjoyed Leviathan Wake’s and I’m excited to have the novellas in a bind up that are hopefully the same height as the other books.
Book Lovers By Emily Henry
Release Date: May 3
Emily Henry is one of my new auto-buy authors. I read both Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation last year and loved both. I am super excited to see how giddy I feel while reading this next one! It has rivals to lovers by the sounds of it and I am sold!
Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood
Release Date: May 3
It’s going to be hard choosing which book I start with, but I am so excited to see more by Ali Hazelwood. She released The Love Hypothesis as her debut last year and it was my favourite romance of 2021. It seems like this has enemies to lovers and its short and sweet.
Stuck with You by Ali Hazelwood
Release Date: June 7
This is the next novella that Ali is releasing and again has rivals to lovers so I’m sold.
Locklands by Robert Jackson Bennett
Release Date: June 21
This is the third book in the Foundryside Trilogy and I read the first one in 2020 while I was still new to adult fantasy so while I loved it at the time, I’m definitely going to have to re-read it and see if it holds up to what I have read recently. The magic system was really unique and if you knew the codes for objects you could manipulate them to your needs. It also has this merchant war that is going on in the background and it was really interesting. I’m excited to see if he sticks the landing!
The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager
Release Date: June 21
I have loved most of Riley Sagers thrillers. They introduced me to the thriller/horror genre with Home Before Dark and I have read everything they will publish since. This is giving me The Women in the Window vibes so I’m definitely intrigued!
Below Zero by Ali Hazelwood
Release Date: July 5
This is the final of the 3 novellas that Ali will be releasing. It is an enemies to lovers, and I’m excited for it to finally be out.
Upgrade by Blake Crouch
Release Date: July 19
I loved both Recursion and Dark Matter by the same author and while his characters sound similar, I love the science that he includes in his stories and you can tell he is very passionate about the subject so I will definitely be picking it up!
Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
Release Date: August 23
Need I say more? It’s enemies to lovers and I am ready.
Babel by R.F. Kuang
Release Date: August 23
I am so excited for this dark academia by one of my favourite authors. I loved the Poppy War trilogy by her and I am so excited to read this new book by her! I have a feeling it going to be filled with pretentious characters and lots of history notes which I will appreciate and definitely have to google about after reading!
Those are the books that I am excited for for the first half of the year. Let me know in the comments what you are excited for or if you have any of these on your list as well!
